10th session of the Committee on Relations with Serbs Living Outside Serbia

At its tenth session, held on 5 April, the Committee on Relations with Serbs Living Outside Serbia discussed reports on official visits abroad made by officials of the Ministry of the Diaspora.


At its tenth session, held on 5 April, the Committee on Relations with Serbs Living Outside Serbia discussed reports on official visits abroad made by officials of the Ministry of the Diaspora. The Minister of the Diaspora, Vojislav Vukcevic, attended the session, accompanied by his associates.

Officials of the Ministry informed the deputies of official visits made to Slovenia, South Africa, the United States and Canada, as well as of meetings with representatives of Serbs living in those countries.

The Deputy Minister, Aleksandar Cotric, informed Committee members that a Diaspora Bill was being drafted, and that, once adopted, such an Act would regulate the status of Serbs living abroad. He underlined that it was necessary to conduct a census of the diaspora, which would involve several ministries and other public authorities.

The session also discussed activities that government bodies would have to undertake in order to improve the position of Serbs living in certain countries, as well as to make it easier for them to return and invest n Serbia.
