13th Sitting of the Environmental Protection Committee
At the sitting held on 27 December, the members of the Environmental Protection Committee discussed the Ministry of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Activity Information for the period August-October 2012.
The Ministry’s activity information was presented to the Committee members by Prof. Dr Zorana Mihajlovic, Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection.
In the course of the debate the Committee members gained additional information on the situation in Zajaca mine and the situation at the Institute for Nature Conservation. They also talked about waste management, use of renewable energy resources, as well as alternatives to the Environmental Protection Fund. The Committee members asked Minister Mihajlovic for information on the by-laws that have not yet been passed, which thwarts the implementation of laws.
Following the debate, the Committee accepted the Ministry of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Activity Information for the period August-October 2012.
The Committee members went on to discuss the Committee’s 2013 framework activity plan. They ascertained that the Committee would organise four public hearings in the course of next year, starting from February 2012. They also agreed that the Committee would hold sittings outside of the seat of the National Assembly.
The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairperson, Milica Vojic Markovic.
