20th Sitting of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality

At the sitting held on 16 January, the members of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality discussed the Committee’s activities in 2015.


Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic opined that the Committee would be busiest after the opening of chapter 23 of the EU negotiations.
He said that, in addition to its legislative activity, in 2015 the Committee would continue its supervision and control over the executive. Omerovic said that the Committee would also continue its cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the non-governmental sector. The Committee Chairman announced that the Committee would be organising sittings outside of the Assembly headquarters in 2015, as well as public hearings, and that it would continue to combat violence against women. He underlined the importance of continuity and deepening of regional cooperation at the level of parliamentary bodies, the Committee’s cooperation with the national minority councils, Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and civil protection institutions.
In the course of the discussion the Committee members shared their recommendations as regards the Committee’s activities in 2015.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic.
