At its session held on 30 April, the Legislative Committee discussed the Request of the Republic Electoral Commission for an opinion on the implementation of provisions of Article 56, Paragraph 3 of the Act on the Election of Deputies. Paragraph 3 of the Article states that voting abroad should last for two days and end on the day and hour, local time, corresponding to the end of voting in the Republic of Serbia.
The Commission took the view that voting abroad should last for two days, based on the difference between Serbia’s local time and the various time zones, and that it should end at all polling stations at 8 p.m. on 13 June, Serbian time, i.e. at the same time that voting finishes in the Republic of Serbia.
The Commission was also of the opinion that conditions had been met for the preparation of an authentic interpretation of this legal provision, in order for any ambiguities in its implementation to be removed in good time.
The session of the Committee was chaired by its chairman, Milos Aligrudic.
