32nd Sitting of the European Integration Committee
At the sitting held on 28 April, the European Integration Committee reviewed the Third Draft Action Plan for Chapter 24.
Ministry of Interior Coordinator for the drafting of the Action Plan Drazen Maravic briefed the Committee members on the methodology used to draft the Action Plan and its structure and explained how the implementation of the document is to be controlled.
Maravic said that the adoption of the Action Plan is the European Commission’s criterion for the opening of Chapter 24 and that Serbia is obligated not only to fully harmonise its legislation with the EU acquis, but also to effectively implement the laws before it can become an EU member.
Following a discussion, the Committee members gave a positive opinion to the Third Draft Action Plan for Chapter 24.
The sitting was also attended by Sasa Djordjevic, representative of the National Convention on the EU.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Aleksandar Senic.
