36th Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government
At the sitting held on 10 October, the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government discussed several decision proposals on the election of bearers of judiciary office submitted by the High Judicial Council to the National Assembly to be reviewed by urgent procedure.
On the Proposal of the Decision on the election of President of the Supreme Court of Cassation, the Committee decided, by a majority of votes, to note that the High Judicial Council had nominated a candidate for President of the Supreme Court of Cassation and the conditions for his election had been met. The Committee concluded to propose that the National Assembly elect Supreme Court of Cassation judge Dragomir Milojevic, President of the Supreme Court of Cassation.
The Committee also proposed that the National Assembly elect Administrative Court judge Jelena Ivanovic President of the Administrative Court, Commercial Appellate Court judge Miroslav Nikolic President of the Commercial Appellate Court, High Misdemeanour Court judge Zoran Pasalic President of the High Misdemeanour Court, judge of the Appellate Court in Belgrade Dusko Milenkovic President of the Appellate Court in Belgrade, judge of the Supreme Court of Cassation Dragan Jocic President of the Appellate Court in Nis and judge of the Appellate Court in Kragujevac Dubravka Damjanovic President of the Appellate Court in Kragujevac.
The Committee went on to review the Proposal of the Decision on the election of judges elected to judicial office for the first time and, by a majority of votes, proposed that the National Assembly elect the 11 judges elected to judicial office for the first time.
At the sitting, the Committee also established the Proposal of the decision on the termination of office of public prosecutor at the Appellate Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kragujevac.
The sitting was chaired by Petar Petrovic, Committee Chairman.
