At its third session, the Culture and Information Committee discussed the Information on the state of the monastery of Hilandar, damaged by fire, as well as possible measures for its reconstruction.

The session was held on 15 March, and was chaired by Aleksandar Lazarevic, chairman of the Committee.

The Committee resolved to send a circular letter to chairpersons of Deputies’ Groups inviting them to call on all deputies to set aside one day’s salary to help with the reconstruction of the fire-damaged monastery.

The Committee proposed that reconstruction could be financed continually through additional postage stamps or telephone charges.

It was also resolved to establish close co-operation of the Committee with the Hilandar Committee, formed at the Ministry of Culture, and with Belgrade-based Hilandar Foundation.
