Anti-discriminatory legislation presented
The National Assembly saw the presentation of model anti-discriminatory legislation and model legislation to counter discrimination against disabled persons.
The National Assembly saw the presentation of model anti-discriminatory legislation and model legislation to counter discrimination against disabled persons. The presentation was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Issues.
The chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee, Leila Ruzdic, reminded the deputies of the state’s obligation to implement the highest Council of Europe and European Union legal standards in the field of anti-discriminatory legislation as soon as possible. Representatives of working groups for drafting model anti-discriminatory legislation from the Comparative Law Institute and the Legal Studies Advancement Centre presented the draft legislation, especially its provisions on the prohibited forms of discrimination and mechanisms designed to efficiently protect persons discriminated against, to deputies from the Gender Equality Committee, the Inter-ethnic Relations Committee, the Committee on Labour, Ex-servicemen’s and Social Issues, and the European Integrations Committee.
The meeting ended with all participants declaring their commitment to continued discussion of anti-discriminatory legislation, both in the Serbian Assembly and in the Republic Government’s appropriate ministries.
