Wishing Vice Chairman Li a welcome and a pleasant stay in Belgrade, Dr Orlic stressed how proud Serbia is of the outstanding relations, strong cooperation and exceptional results achieved with the People's Republic of China. "The many significant projects, support in the most difficult moments and joint work in various fields confirm that our two countries’ steel friendship, grounded in the close relations of their two leaders, presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Xi Jinping," said Dr Orlic, expressing at the same time his readiness to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership, which the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will contribute to by continuing the exceptional dynamics of the exchange of parliamentary visits and activities.

The Assembly Speaker used the opportunity to convey his gratitude to the Vice Chairman for China’s firm and principled position regarding Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He went on to stress that China also has Serbia’s full support for the "One China" policy.

Dr Orlic informed the Vice Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee in detail about the difficult situation in Kosovo-Metohija. "Pristina's intention is to expel Serbs from their centuries-old hearths. We will not and cannot allow that," said Orlic. He emphasised that Serbia, led by the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic, continues to preserve peace and stability for all and to implement a state policy that means a comprehensive, strong development of Serbia and cooperation with its friends and partners.

Li Hongzhong, First Vice Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee, thanked the National Assembly Speaker for the warm welcome and conveyed the greetings of the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress. He emphasised that the two countries are connected by steel friendship and a comprehensive strategic partnership, which Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Chinese President Xi Jinping are particularly responsible for.

"The steel friendship is reflected through the high degree of political trust between the two countries, as well as practical cooperation, support and projects of mutual interest," said Vice Chairman Li.

He stressed that the exceptional political trust is also reflected in mutual support on matters of vital interest, namely the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries, which was once again confirmed by both sides during the meeting.

The First Vice Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee expressed his gratitude for the support of the Serbian President, Prime Minister and the National Assembly Speaker, which enabled China and Serbia’s joint projects to progress successfully and achieve excellent results. He emphasised the importance of intensifying the exchange of experiences and good practice between legislative institutions, in order to provide an even better environment for cooperation and provide a legislative basis for the development of projects of mutual interest.

The meeting of the First Vice Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee and the National Assembly Speaker was also attended by National Assembly deputy speakers Snezana Paunovic and Usame Zukorlic, Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with China Marina Ragus, Chairman of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending and member of the PFG with China Veroljub Arsic and the Chairman of the Committee on Spatial Planning, Transport, Infrastructure and Telecommunications Dr Ugljesa Markovic. On the part of the Chinese delegation, the meeting was attended by Standing Committee Deputy Secretary General Liu Chuinchen, Deputy Chairman of the Constitution and Law Committee and Deputy Head of the China-Serbia PFG Yuen Suhong, Deputy Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee Wang Tieming and Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Wang K.
