Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly Standing Committee and Bureau Meet in Tirana

Natasa Vuckovic, Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly and member of the National Assembly’s standing delegation, took part in the meetings of the Standing Committee and Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, in Tirana on 24 and 25 May 2012.


The Parliamentary Assembly’s Standing Committee adopted the report of the Ad hoc Committee for the observation of the elections in Serbia. The report notes that the parliamentary and presidential elections in Serbia were conducted in line with Council of Europe standards. The observers visited 182 polling stations in Serbia and concluded that the voting was carried out in the best way possible and the vote counting was conducted in a professional manner. In its report, the Observation Mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe recommended better equipment for the polling stations, facilitating access to the polling stations to people with disabilities, composing the electoral roll in both Cyrillic and Latin script in communities with mixed population, as well as providing better training to polling boards in rural areas.

The Standing Committee also adopted the report of the Ad hoc Committee for the observation of the parliamentary elections in Armenia, an opinion on the draft fourth additional protocol to the European Convention on Extradition and a recommendation on the protection of and access to the audiovisual cultural heritage in Europe.
