Dacic Meets with Botsan-Kharchenko

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko today.

The officials discussed the current situation in Europe and the Western Balkans, as well as the future development of bilateral relations between Serbia and Russia.

Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko said that the Russian MPs and senators who were part of the observation missions of the Russian Parliament, as well as the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States, gave a positive assessment of the recent elections, declaring them transparent and well-organised.

Speaking of the situation in Ukraine, National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic said that, as always, Serbia stands for respecting international law and will remain committed to peace, but would be pursuing its national interests and on its path to Europe would continue to maintain traditional friendships and partnerships with Russia and China. He also expressed hope for a swift diplomatic solution and end to the conflict.
