Defence and Internal Affairs Committee Chairperson Marija Obradovic visited European Defence Agency (EDA) in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, on 19 September 2018, at the invitation of EDA Chief Executive Ambassador Jorge Domecq.
MP Marija Obradovic said that joining the European Union is Serbia’s key foreign policy goal, within which the country considers developing cooperation with EDA through many projects it is interested in especially important.
Obradovic informed Mr Domecq that a new National Security Strategy and Defence Strategy are in the works stressing that in the last two years, since their last meeting in December 2016 at the National Assembly, there have been some significant changes both at the internal and regional level, and the Serbian Government, President Aleksandar Vucic in particular, is focusing on building trust and cooperation as the key to the overall progress of the Western Balkan region.
They went on to discussed all the aspects of cooperation offered within the EDA programmes, noting that they should insist on finding projects of mutual interest and benefit for both the EDA member states and the Republic of Serbia.
