Deputy Speaker Bozic Meets with DR Congo Deputy Prime Minister

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Sandra Bozic met today at the National Assembly House with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Christophe Lutundula to discuss the possibilities of improving cooperation between the two countries, with a special focus on the importance of interparliamentary cooperation.

The Deputy Speaker stressed that the relations between the two countries are traditionally good and friendly, expressing her belief that today's visit would give impetus to the further development of political dialogue between the two countries. She emphasised that the interparliamentary cooperation has significant potential, reminding the guest that in the previous parliamentary legislature’s eight-member Parliamentary Friendship Group with DR Congo would hopefully increase in size in the current one.

Lutundula agreed that interparliamentary cooperation is extremely important and that the two countries must nurture the historical friendship through contacts of the MPs as elected the representatives of the people.

Deputy Speaker Sandra Bozic thanked DR Congo for its principled stance on supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia, stressing that Serbia remains committed to dialogue in order to preserve peace and stability. Lutundula said he supported Serbia on that path, stressing that it has an ally in the people of DR Congo, who are currently facing the same situation on their territory.

The topics of conversation also included the importance of improving economic cooperation, which, as they assessed, was below potential, as well as strengthening economic and agricultural cooperation, and especially within the "World in Serbia" scholarship program.
