Dr Orlic with Nigerian Delegation on IPU Margins: Strengthening Cooperation and Improving Relations
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic met today in Kigali, on the sidelines of the 145th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, with the Nigerian delegation headed by Senator Kabir Barkiya. As they jointly pointed out, the relations between the two countries are good and they are bound by friendship that dates back to the founding of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries.
Dr Orlic thanked Nigeria for its principled stance of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of so-called "Kosovo", that is, for its support in preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia.
The officials expressed willingness to improve cooperation in numerous areas, especially the economy, culture, sports and education. They agreed that the strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation at all levels is of great importance for strengthening relations between the two countries. "Geographical distance must not be an obstacle for us. We can do a lot, and the long decades of history of relations obliges us to work together," concluded the National Assembly Speaker.
