Foreign Affairs Committee Chairperson Visits Czech Parliament
Foreign Affairs Committee Chairperson Aleksandra Djurovic is taking part in the delegation of foreign affairs committees of the parliaments of South East Europe – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia, currently visiting the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
The delegation is visiting Prague at the invitation of Karel Schwarzenberg, Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Czech Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies.
The officials exchanged views on the dynamics of the EU enlargement policy and regional cooperation with a special focus on cooperation within the Visegrad Group. Karel Schwarzenberg emphasised the Czech Republic’s strong support for the countries of South East Europe currently in the European integration process and applauded the establishment of regional ties at the level of foreign affairs committees of SEE countries. He announced the establishment of a fund for the Western Balkans within the Visegrad Group during the Czech chairmanship.
Aleksandra Djurovic highlighted the importance of a speedy opening of negotiations chapters with Serbia and thanked the Czech Republic for its unremitting support of Serbia’s European integration.
The officials opined that the EU enlargement policy should be governed by concrete criteria, not changeable circumstances.
