Gojkovic Meets with Czech Parliamentarians
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with the Chairman of the Czech Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs Karel Schwarzenberg and the Committee members, currently visiting Serbia.
The National Assembly Speaker thanked the Czech Republic for the support it gives Serbia on the path to Euro-integration, saying that Serbia expects the first negotiation chapters to be opened this year.
Gojkovic briefed Schwarzenberg and the members of the Czech Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs on Serbia’s economic reform and austerity measures which have led to the consolidation of public finance.
Schwarzenberg said that he has been following Serbia’s progress very closely and added that he endorses the speedy EU accession of the Western Balkan countries, saying it was in the Union’s interest.
Gojkovic and Schwarzenberg agreed that the relations between Serbia and the Czech Republic are good and friendly and spoke in favour of boosting Czech investment into Serbia.
The Czech Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs also comprised MPs Jaroslav Foldyna, Leo Luzar, Pavel Plzak and Jiri Mihola.
