Gojkovic Receives Indonesian Delegation

Today, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic received the Indonesian delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdurrahman Fachir.

Gojkovic thanked Indonesia for its support of Serbia during yesterday’s vote at the UNESCO General Conference, stressing that by voting against Kosovo joining UNESCO Indonesia had confirmed its friendship with Serbia.

Gojkovic stressed that Serbia and Indonesia enjoy traditionally good relations whose improvement both at the parliamentary level, between working bodies and friendship groups, and in the sphere of economy would be in both countries’ interest.

Fachir said that the two countries should concentrate on developing trade and economic cooperation for which there is ample potential.

Fachir went on to emphasise that friendly and good political relations are an important capital for the development of economic relations.

The Indonesian delegation is visiting Serbia under the auspices of the third bilateral interfaith dialogue between Serbia and Indonesia.

The meeting was also attended by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic, Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Indonesia Aleksandra Tomic and representatives of the religious communities.
