Gojkovic Sends Tijana Juric Foundation’s Initiative to Government Asking for Bill

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic sent the initiative of Foundation Tijana Juric, endorsed by 158,460 Serbian citizens, to Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic asking for amendments and modifications to the Criminal Code to instate life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for serious crimes.


The initiative proposes stricter punishments for perpetrators of serious crimes against life and body and sexual freedom resulting in the death of the child, minor, pregnant woman and infirm victim. The initiative also aims to amend and modify the Criminal Code to prevent those sentenced to life imprisonment from being paroled.

In view of the significance of the amendments proposed by the initiative, the National Assembly Speaker asked the Government and relevant ministries to analyse the draft, formulate a Bill amending and modifying the Criminal Code and send it to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia for consideration.
