MP Srdjan Sajn Visits European Parliament
Yesterday, MP Srdjan Sajn took part in the meeting titled “Progressive reforms for the 21st century” in the European Parliament in Brussels.
On the occasion, speaking with the European Parliament’s leading socialists, MP Sajn, who is also the President of the Roma Interparliamentary Organisation, opined that it is very important for Serbia to be granted a start date for the talks as soon as possible because that has an enormous impact on the status of vulnerable categories in the country.
In the course of his visit to Brussels, Sajn also met with European Commissioner Laszlo Andor with whom he agreed that, during his visit to Serbia in the second half of 2013, one of the topics should be the challenges of Roma employment and social inclusion as an important issue in Serbia’s European integration process.
Franz Maget, Deputy Speaker of the Bavarian Parliament, invited Sajn to visit the German federal state, saying he was ready to establish cooperation with a Serbian municipality which achieves serious anti-corruption results. On the first day of his visit to Brussels Sajn met with the European Commission Enlargement Directorate’s Western Balkans Director Pierre Mirel and European parliamentarian Josef Weidenholzer with whom he talked about beginning preparations to organise a joint meeting between the members of the Roma Interparliamentary Organisation and European Parliament Members to improve parliamentary practice in the process of integration of the Roma national community.
