MPs Talk to GRECO Delegation
The MPs met with a delegation of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) visiting the Republic of Serbia 25 – 28 November 2014.
The meeting with the MPs was organised so as to gather responses to the corruption prevention Questionnaire mainly dealing with transparency of the legislative procedure, ethics, conflict of interest, financial rewards and misuse of public funds.
The members of the GRECO delegation met with the members of the GOPAC Serbia National Branch, representatives of parliamentary groups and members of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending and the Committee on Administrative, Budgetary, Mandate and Immunity Issues. The meeting was also attended by National Assembly deputy secretaries general Srdjan Smiljanic and Branko Marinkovic.
In the course of its three-day visit to Belgrade the GRECO delegation also met with representatives of the judiciary and prosecution, independent bodies, civil society organisations and the university.
After the visit to Serbia GRECO will draft a report on the evaluation it had conducted which should be adopted at the Council of Europe plenary session.
GRECO, gathering 318 parliamentarians from 47 European states, was founded with the objective to improve the capacity of its member states to fight corruption.
