National Assembly Delegation Activities Under Auspices of Second Commission Meeting in China

Under the auspices of the Second Meeting of the Commission for Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Chinese National People's Congress, the National Assembly delegation headed by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic met with the Chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region People’s Congress Standing Committee Labsang Gyaltsen in Lhasa.

Standing Committee Chairman Labsang Gyaltsen stressed that Serbia is an important partner in the Belt and Road initiative and the Commission has opened a new channel of cooperation between China and Serbia, as expected from the high official cooperation between the two countries.

The visits of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Serbia and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to China are of historic significance and have opened the doors to many more high official visits and raised the cooperation between the two countries to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Commission co-chair Veroljub Arsic briefed Standing Committee Chairman Labsang Gyaltsen on the Commission’s activities and the topics of the second meeting, in particular those concerning political, economic and cultural cooperation.

Arsic went on to brief the host on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija in detail and thanked China for its unwavering support of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The meeting also touched on the potential and initiatives for inter-regional cooperation.

In addition to National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Commission co-chair Veroljub Arsic, on the part of the National Assembly the meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with China Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic, Chairperson of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy Snezana B. Petrovic, Chairman of the Health and Family Committee Dr Sci.med Darko Laketic, Chairman of the Culture and Information Committee Mirko Krlic and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic.
