National Assembly Delegation Takes Part in Energy Community Parliamentary Plenum Meeting in Vienna

National Assembly delegation comprising Zarko Micin and Snezana R. Petrovic took part in the meeting of the Energy Community Parliamentary Plenum in Vienna on 19 December.

The participants adopted the preliminary Rules of Procedure according to which the Plenum is to comprise two members and two substitute members from each national parliamentary delegation of the Energy Community member states, and MEPs in the same number as the members of the national parliaments. The presidency of the Plenum is to be rotating and belongs to the parliament of the state presiding over the Energy Community Ministerial Council. The Plenum is to be chaired by the head of the committee in charge of energy and have meetings twice a year. The decision-making quorum is a minimum of 11 members from 6 national delegations.

The participants also discussed and adopted the first Parliamentary Plenum Report on Security of Energy Supply in the Energy Community region by co-rapporteurs Lev Pidlisetskyy (Ukraine) and Claude Turmes (European Parliament). The National Assembly delegation submitted six amendments to the Draft Report three of which were adopted in their entirety, while two were adopted with certain changes as a result of compromise in the discussion on them.

Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Janez Kopac presented the Energy Community work programme 2018.

On 20 December, the National Assembly delegation is also taking part in the South East Europe Parliamentary Forum on Energy Efficiency and the Climate.
