The Head National Assembly delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO PA) Milovan Drecun and delegation member Aleksandar Pavic took part in the session of the CSTO PA Council on 19 May 2025 in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
The heads of parliamentary delegations from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Serbia attended the session where the participants discussed harmonisation of legislation in terms of countering challenges and threats to collective security, as well as the protection of historical memory.
In his address, Milovan Drecun reminded the attending that the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia has observer status in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, adding that it is important to emphasise the importance of the principles of respect international law, territorial integrity and mutual benefits of cooperation. "I would like to take this opportunity to stress that the Republic of Serbia, through its policy of military neutrality and readiness to actively participate in the work of the CSTO, is in fact confirming the sovereignty and independence of its international position, which is based on a principled policy, which primarily starts from the interests of the Republic of Serbia," he said in his address. He took the opportunity to once again congratulate the Day of Victory over Fascism and the 80th anniversary of the magnificent triumph of freedom and anti-fascist ideals.
During the visit, the Head of the National Assembly delegation, Milovan Drecun, together with the heads of parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states and the CSTO Secretary General, participated in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Eternal Flame.
