National Assembly Delegation at PACE Autumn Session in Strasbourg

The National Assembly delegation to take part in the Autumn Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, 30 September - 4 October, is headed by the acting head of the standing delegation to PACE Biljana Pantic Pilja and comprises delegation members Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic, Elvira Kovacs and Aleksandar Seselj, and deputy members Dubravka Filipovski and Miljan Damjanovic.

Under the auspices of the French Presidency and the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe, French President Emmanuel Macron will be the guest of the Parliamentary Assembly and will first address the gathering and then take questions. Marija Pejcinovic Buric, the newly-elected Council of Europe Secretary General, will also address the parliamentarians.

In the course of the five-day session the Parliamentary Assembly will focus on protection of whistleblowers, common standards for ombudsman institutions and the protection of victims of terrorism, as well as preservation of Jewish cultural heritage. The Assembly will also discuss reports on climate refugees and labour migration in Eastern Europe, as well as obstetrical and gynaecological violence.

Reports on the functioning of democratic institutions in the Republic of Moldova, and on post-monitoring dialogue with Northern Macedonia, as well as a report on the contribution of the Council of Europe Development Bank to a more inclusive society also feature on the agenda.

The Parliamentary Assembly will also elect a judge to the European Court of Human Rights from Portugal.
