National Assembly Deputy Speaker Jovan Janjic Meets with Ambassador of Belarus to Serbia

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Jovan Janjic met today with the Ambassador of the Belarus to the Republic of Serbia Sergei Malinovsky.

Jovan Janjic stressed that Belarus has been a great friend to Serbia and that this year marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries. He added that our two Slav people have enjoyed a historic relationship dating back centuries before the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The National Assembly Deputy Speaker was especially grateful for Belarus respecting Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and not recognising the so-called state of Kosovo, as well as resisting its attempts to become member of international organisations.

Ambassador Malinovsky stressed that Serbia can always count on the support of Belarus on all principled issues concerning the protection of its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The officials expressed readiness to continue to develop interparliamentary cooperation through a regular exchange of parliamentary delegations. They opined that this is a good basis to advance cooperation in many other areas such as the economy, industry, agriculture and high technology.

Janjic and Malinovsky also highlighted the importance of support and mutual protection of interests by our parliamentary delegations in international parliamentary organisations and forums.
