National Assembly Deputy Speaker Kovacs Meets with Cypriot Ambassador to Serbia

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Elvira Kovacs met today, at the National Assembly House with the Ambassador of Cyprus to Serbia Andreas Photiou, to discuss the further development of the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially at the parliamentary level.

Elvira Kovacs thanked Cyprus for understanding Serbia’s positions and challenges it is facing, as well as the continuous support in terms of European integration. She underlined the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and further development of interparliamentary relations, especially between the two parliaments’ working bodies, as well as in the field of European integration.

Ambassador Photiou opined that it is time for the European Union to send a positive signal to Serbia by opening a new negotiation cluster, stressing that Cyprus will continue to support Serbia on its European path.

The officials also discussed the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and the importance of regional cooperation in the Western Balkans. They agreed that dialogue is vital for the normalisation of relations and security in Kosovo-Metohija, highlighting Belgrade’s constructive approach to the dialogue.
