National Assembly Deputy Speaker Marina Ragus Meets with Diplomatic Academy Attendees

National Assembly Deputy and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Speaker Marina Ragus met today at the National Assembly House with the attendees of the Diplomatic Academy to discuss the significance and scope of parliamentary diplomacy.

Ragus stressed that in the current legislature of the National Assembly, parliamentary diplomacy plays an especially important role, opining that it is more efficient than any other type of diplomacy.

Presenting concrete results of the parliamentary diplomacy to the attendees of the Diplomatic Academy, Ragus stressed that the Foreign Affairs Committee plays a key role in it, adding that it regularly performs its duty of controlling the work of the executive power.

The attendees of the Diplomatic Academy were interested in the role parliamentary diplomacy plays in the European integration process, as well as parliamentary cooperation with traditionally friendly countries such as the People’s Republic of China.

Following the meeting with the National Assembly Deputy and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, the guests toured the National Assembly House, learning more about its rich historical and cultural heritage.
