National Assembly Deputy Speaker Marina Ragus Meets with Portuguese Ambassador to Serbia
National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Foreign Affairs Committee Chairperson Marina Ragus met today with the Ambassador of Portugal to the Republic of Serbia José Rui Baptista Velez Caroço, in the National Assembly House.
The officials discussed the improvement of interparliamentary cooperation, agreeing that parliamentary diplomacy can play a significant role in the further development and deepening of relations between the two countries. Deputy Speaker Ragus especially emphasised the importance of cooperation between the two parliaments at the time of sensitive geopolitical situation we are witnessing.
She also stressed that membership in the European Union remains Serbia's strategic foreign policy goal and regardless of the circumstances on the global political stage, the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić and the Government of the Republic remain firmly focused on preserving peace and stability in the region and continuing economic growth and improving the quality of life standards of its citizens.
The Portuguese Ambassador stressed that Portugal will continue to support Serbia on its European path and emphasised that the embassy will do everything in its power to support the strengthening of cooperation between the two parliaments.
