National Assembly Deputy Speaker Nevena Djuric at Adriatic-Ionian Initiative Parliament Speakers Conference
National Assembly Deputy Speaker Nevena Djuric is taking part in the 19th Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative, held in Ioannina on 23 May 2025.
The conference is dedicated to topics of importance for the region of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative member states, such as the European perspective and accession path of the Western Balkan countries and diversification in the field of tourism.
In her address, Deputy Speaker Djuric stressed that accession to the European Union is Serbia's foreign policy priority and the country will remain committed to preserving peace, progress and stability in the Western Balkans region so as to ensure that all the countries in the region join the European Union.
She also spoke of raising awareness that tourism in the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative member states is a development priority that needs to be approached systematically, not only through economic indicators, but also through the effects that tourism has on local and regional development, the development of culture and education, improvement of environmental protection and the development of complementary activities.
