National Assembly House Hosts Student Parliaments Session as Part of Children’s Week
As part of Children’s Week, the National Assembly House hosted a student parliaments’ session attended by about 50 representatives of student parliaments from 20 Serbian towns.
The student parliaments’ session was opened by the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, Nada Lazic, who highlighted the Committee’s importance for the promotion of children’s rights and status. The students were also addressed by Iva Erakovic of the Friends of the Children of Serbia, the Director of the Institute of Social Sciences Mirjana Rasevic and UNICEF representative Vesna Dejanovic.
The participants had the opportunity to share their views on children who do not live with their families, as well as discuss best practice examples and how student parliaments could contribute to the achievement of a child’s right to live with a family.
The student parliaments’ session was attended by representatives of student parliaments, members of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Union of Secondary School Students of Serbia, civic associations, Friends of the Children of Serbia and the media.
Children’s Week is held with the support of the organisation Friends of the Children of Serbia, under the patronage of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs.
