National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic Meets with Belgian Ambassador to Serbia Koen Adam

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Belgium to the Republic of Serbia Koen Adam.

The National Assembly Speaker and the Belgian Ambassador discussed bilateral cooperation and possibilities for its further improvement, especially in the sphere of parliamentary diplomacy. They agreed that an exchange of visits at the level of heads of parliament, as well as parliamentary friendship groups, strongly contribute to the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries. The Ambassador conveyed Belgium’s readiness for an exchange of visits at the level of the parliament speakers, reminding his host of the open invitation to visit Brussels.

In the course of the meeting, the officials discussed Serbia’s European integration process. Ivica Dacic informed the Ambassador about the National Assembly’s activities and its contribution to the progress made in the field of European integration. He informed the guest in detail about the Constitutional amendment process and the upcoming referendum scheduled for 16 January 2022.

They also discussed upcoming elections and the implementation of the recommendations agreed upon in the Inter-Party Dialogue. The Ambassador praised the efforts the National Assembly Speaker had invested in the process to create better electoral conditions and expressed hope that all political parties would take part in the upcoming elections.
