National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic Meets with Swiss Ambassador

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met with the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation Urs Schmid today.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic opined that the bilateral relations between the two countries are very good, with significant potential for further improvement. He praised as positive the intensive political dialogue at all levels, noting that there is also a lot of room to improve the insufficiently developed interparliamentary cooperation which does not correspond to the level of the two countries’ overall relations.

Ambassador Schmid agreed that the relations between the two countries are at a very high level and that there is potential for further improvement of contacts in all areas. Speaking of economic cooperation, he pointed out that it has been on the rise in the last few years. Speaker Dacic mentioned that our main goal is to attract as many Swiss investments as possible, as well as to increase trade.

Schmid went on to say that 8 Swiss representatives participated in the OSCE Election Observation Mission and also took the opportunity to praise the work of National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic during the previous mandate, as well as his role and contribution to the inter-party dialogue. He said that the institution of parliament is very important for Switzerland and that he would continue to support the next legislature’s work through various projects, as well as plan projects to support local assemblies.

The officials also discussed the situation in the region and the current challenges facing the global community.
