National Assembly Speaker Meets with Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Vice-Chairperson

National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic and the Vice-Chairperson of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Zhang Rongming agreed that Serbia and China enjoy exceptionally well-developed political, friendly and economic relations which should be strengthened, with the message that the Chinese government actively supports its companies in coming to Serbia.


At a joint press conference at the Parliament, Stefanovic said that China is one of Serbia’s most important and biggest friends and that it wishes to intensify parliamentary cooperation and potentials for economic cooperation as China is one of Serbia’s most significant economic partners.
“We also discussed the possibility of China, which has investments in Serbia, considering encouraging future Chinese investors and companies to continue to invest in Serbia. Also, we are very grateful to China on its consistent support and protection of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and our national interests, particularly as regards Kosovo-Metohija”, stressed Stefanovic.
The Chinese guest stated that both sides wished to work toward intensifying bilateral and particularly parliamentary and economic cooperation.
Rongming said that Serbia pays special attention to its relationship with China and consistently supports the One China policy, adding that China also greatly values its relations with Serbia.
She said that, in the meeting, the officials were pleased to note that the construction of the Zemun-Borca bridge has begun, and that the Kostolac power plant project has also been launched, stressing that the Chinese Prime Minister believes the Zemun-Borca bridge to be a symbolic project between China and Serbia.
“The Chinese government actively supports its companies in coming to Serbia to test the market and investment potentials, and also encourages its tourists to visit Serbia”, notes Rongming.
The Vice-Chairperson of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference i.e. the Chinese Parliament’s upper house, also said that they endorse the strengthening of mutual political trust and friendship between the two peoples and also supports the economic cooperation between the two countries and encourages its entrepreneurs and tourists to visit Serbia more often.
