National Assembly Speaker Meets with French Ambassador to Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met with the Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Republic of Serbia Pierre Cochard.

Expressing satisfaction with the excellent bilateral relations between Serbia and France, the National Assembly Speaker stressed his readiness to contribute to their strengthening in the sphere of parliamentary diplomacy. The upcoming visit to France and meetings with Parliament Speaker Richard Ferrand and Senate President Gerard Larcher will also greatly contribution to this, National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic.

Ambassador Cochard agreed that we should work on strengthening the cooperation between the parliaments of Serbia and France, emphasising the importance of the upcoming visit, especially since there have been no mutual parliamentary visits at the highest level for more than a decade.

In the course of the meeting, the officials also discussed Serbia’s European integration process and ongoing reforms. Responding to Ambassador Cochard’s questions, National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic informed the guest about the process of constitutional amendment and the coming referendum on 16 January 2022. The upcoming elections and the implementation of recommendations agreed during the inter-party dialogue, which should contribute to the improvement of electoral conditions, were also discussed.
