National Assembly Speaker Meets with Head of Kuwaiti Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia
National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic met with the Head of the Kuwaiti Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia, Faisal Fahad Al-Shaya, and Friendship Group members and discussed the need to develop economic cooperation and trade between the two countries.
The National Assembly Speaker said today’s meeting shows that Serbia would like to expand overall cooperation with the State of Kuwait, with a special focus on economic cooperation, stressing that the Government’s economic reforms aim to attract foreign investors. “Serbia is undergoing a process of reform and adoption of laws which would make it the region’s most attractive destination for investors. I am sure that Kuwaiti investors would be interested in a more pronounced presence in Serbia”, said Gojkovic.
The Head of the Kuwaiti Parliamentary Friendship Group said that Serbia has ample potential to make itself attractive for investors. Fahad Al-Shaya said there was room to promote economic cooperation and trade between the two countries, and that he expected the Mixed Commission for Economic Cooperation to stimulate its development.
The officials also pointed out that there is room to promote cooperation in the spheres of healthcare, agriculture, food, machine and military industry.
Gojkovic and Fahad Al-Shaya agreed that today’s visit would spur the development of parliamentary cooperation in view of the traditional relationship between Serbia and Kuwait, while the Kuwaiti delegation extended an invitation to the Parliament Speaker to come visit the Kuwaiti Parliament.
