National Assembly Speaker Meets with Indian Ambassador to Serbia
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of India Shubhdarshini Tripathi.
At the meeting, it was emphasised that the bilateral relations between the two countries are traditionally friendly and good, based on mutual understanding and support dating back to the period of establishment and close cooperation within the Non-Aligned Movement. The visit of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, to India in 2017, which represented the first visit at that level in three decades, marked a new turning point in the dynamics of the political dialogue between the two countries.
The National Assembly Speaker emphasised the importance of further development of parliamentary cooperation through the exchange of parliamentary visits at all levels. In that context, she informed Ambassador Tripathi that the new legislature of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia has set up a Parliamentary Friendship Group with India.
In the course of the meeting, the officials also discussed cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence. In December of this year, Serbia will host the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence within the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence, of which India is the current chairman. Both sides expressed their readiness for further cooperation in the area which represents significant potential for the future.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue intensive dialogue and cooperation in all important areas in order to further strengthen relations between Serbia and India.
