National Assembly Speaker Meets with SAPC Co-Chair
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic met today with the co-chair of the European Union - Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC) Loucas Fourlas currently in official visit to Belgrade.
The topic of the meeting was Serbia’s European path and improvement of cooperation with the European Union, wherein the National Assembly Speaker underlined Serbia’ dedication to the reform process and harmonisation with European standards. She stressed that National Assembly remains committed to conducting the reforms concerning the rule of law and improving democracy which are key segments of the accession process.
“Serbia needs the European Union, and the European Union need Serbia as well”, Fourlas stressed. He said that our country is the key for stability in the Western Balkans and to that end urged to intensify the pace of reform in an inclusive manner accompanied by the resolution of the existing problems.
The officials agreed that strengthening the image of Serbia as a proactive and reliable partner is important for the further progress of European integration and that the continuation of parliamentary cooperation is key in that process.
