National Assembly Speaker Receives French Ambassador to Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received the Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Republic of Serbia Pierre Cochard today.

The National Assembly Speaker pointed out that the cooperation between Serbia and France is comprehensive and well-developed, as evidenced by the intensive high-level political dialogue. He expressed gratitude to the French MPs and senators who monitored the elections in Serbia within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, OSCE and ODIHR observation missions.

Responding to Ambassador Cochard’s questions National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic informed the guest about the legal deadlines for convening the next parliament and forming other state bodies. Ambassador Cochard expressed satisfaction with the political pluralism in the Assembly heralded by the results of the 3 April elections.

Discussing international political issues, Ambassador Cochard expressed his desire for Serbia to resolutely continue with its European integration policy, implementing the initiated reforms as well as strengthening its compliance with the European Union's foreign policy, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine.

In the course of the meeting, the officials also discussed to continue with the improvement of political and parliamentary cooperation as soon as conditions allow, both through the existing framework and through the twinning and TAIEX programmes which French parliamentarians expressed interest in, as well as European Union projects.
