National Assembly Speaker Receives Qatari Ambassador to Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Serbia Faris Roumi Al-Naimi today in courtesy visit.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic wished the Qatari Ambassador a successful mandate, stressing that the bilateral relations between the two countries are following an upward trend. He expressed readiness to, whatever his future function may be, continue to contribute to the strengthening of cooperation and friendly ties between Qatar and Serbia, as he has done in his capacity as Assembly Speaker and Foreign Minister. Speaking of parliamentary cooperation, Speaker Dacic reiterated that the Qatari Head of Parliament has an open invitation to come and visit Serbia, adding that one of the new parliamentary legislature’s first tasks would be to establish friendship groups with other countries, Qatar included.

Ambassador Faris Roumi Al-Naimi agreed that the excellent bilateral relations should be strengthened, especially through direct contact. He took the opportunity to convey the greetings of the Speaker of the Qatari Consultative Assembly – the Shura, Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanem to the National Assembly Speaker. He mentioned the good experiences of economic cooperation between the two countries, noting that it is rather modest, with a lot of unused potential, and hoping that the improved epidemiological situation would help intensify business contacts.
