National Assembly Speaker Visits Sarajevo

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic is visiting Sarajevo at the invitation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic Dejanovic spoke to the members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives and House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

They discussed future cooperation between the BiH Parliamentary Assembly House of Representatives and the Serbian National Assembly. The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Slavica Djukic Dejanovic stressed that Serbia, as the guarantor of the Dayton Agreement, would continue to consistently support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as its internal structure as defined by the Dayton Agreement. Serbia will not support any solution not endorsed by the consensus of all three nations and both entities – neither the division of Bosnia and Herzegovina nor the unitary state. Serbia wishes to develop the best possible relations with the BiH central government as well as the two entities, said Djukic Dejanovic, adding that Serbia supported the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The NARS Speaker said that the democratic leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina must be the ones to come up with the solution to the functioning of the state.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of Serbia’s most important foreign trade partners. We encourage Serbian companies to invest into all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said Djukic Dejanovic.

The hosts stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina would fully support the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, and that a democratic, stable, European Serbia was the strategic interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The importance of improving economic and parliamentary cooperation was particularly emphasised.
