National Assembly Speaker at Inauguration of Georgian President
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic attended the inauguration of the newly-elected Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili on behalf of the Republic of Serbia.
Gojkovic attended the ceremony in the city of Telavi and will also be a guest at the dinner organized by President Zurabishvili. The National Assembly Speaker conveyed the congratulations of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, assuring the new Georgian President that Serbia and Georgia will continue to cultivate good and friendly relations.
Gojkovic also talked with Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze, stating that Serbia is committed to the further development and improvement of overall cooperation, parliamentary as well as economic.
The Serbian Assembly Speaker also thanked Georgia for not recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija and voting against so-called “Kosovo’s” attempt to join INTERPOL at the General Assembly in Dubai.
At the margins of the Georgian President’s inauguration, the National Assembly Speaker also talked with a number of high dignitaries about improving bilateral relations and developing cooperation, among them Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov, President of the Czech Senate Jaroslav Kubera, Lithuanian Parliament Speaker Viktoras Pranckietis and Polish Parliament Speaker Marek Kuchcinski.
