National Assembly Standing Delegation at OSCE PA Fall Meetings in Budva
The National Assembly’s standing delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will take part in the organisation’s Fall Meetings to be held in Budva, from 12 to 15 October 2013.
The Fall Meetings will include a Mediterranean Forum, a meeting of the Assembly's Bureau and the Standing Committee, and a parliamentary conference. One of the key topics of the Mediterranean Forum will be the situation in Syria under the theme "The Mediterranean: A Union of Civilizations". The recently elected OSCE PA President Ranko Krivokapic will open the parliamentary conference on "Addressing Transnational Threats and Protecting Human Rights: The Role of the OSCE", which will include the participation of Alexey Lyzhenkov, Co-ordinator of Activities to Address Transnational Threats at the OSCE Secretariat. Montenegro's Foreign Minister Igor Luksic will also take part in the opening remarks.
In the course of the proceedings, the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will have a series of meetings with the parliamentary delegations of Ukraine, Switzerland and the Western Balkan countries in the context of Serbia’s imminent presidency of the OSCE in 2015.
The OSCE PA Fall Meetings date back to 2002 and focus on strengthening interparliamentary dialogue on topics of interest for the OSCE member states. Previous meetings had been hosted by Slovenia, Malta, Spain, Greece, Italy, Canada, Croatia and Albania.
