The Environmental Protection Committee held its nineteenth sitting on 21 October 2010. The sitting was chaired by Cedomir Jovanovic, Committee Chairman, and Svetlana Stojakovic-Milovanovic, Committee Deputy Chairperson, and was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning Dr Miladin Avramov, Assistant Ministers Aleksandar Vesic and Radoslav Momirov and associates, as well as representatives of the Chemicals Agency, Environmental Protection Agency, Republic Hydrometeorological Institute of Serbia, Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities.

The Committee members considered and, by a majority of votes adopted: the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Chemicals, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Biocides, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Environmental Noise Protection, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Environmental Protection, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Waste Management and the Bill on Meteorological and Hydrological Activities, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in principle.

Deputies Vitomir Pluzarevic and Radisa Ilic reserved their opinions.

The Committee members went on to consider the petitions forwarded to the Environmental Protection Committee. The Committee members ruled, by a majority of votes, to appoint Committee Deputy Chairperson Svetlana Stojakovic-Milovanovic official parliamentary representative for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.
