Ninth Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 7 December, the members of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government discussed the Proposal of the Decision on the election of High Judicial Council member from the ranks of appellate courts, Proposal of the Decision on the election of court presidents, Proposal of the Decision on the election of judges to judicial office for the first time, Proposal of the Decision on the termination of office of the President of the Misdemeanour Court in Loznica and the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Activity Information for the period July-September 2016.

At the beginning of the sitting the Committee accepted the Proposal of the Decision on the election of High Judicial Council member from the ranks of appellate courts, submitted by the High Judicial Council.

Miroljub Tomic, Deputy President of the High Judicial Council, elaborated the Proposal of the Decision on the election of court presidents stressing that in addition to the required documentation and applications, the candidates also submitted an activity programme which was quite useful in the assessment and evaluation of the candidates. The Committee Chairman stressed that the High Judicial Council had accepted all the candidate nomination decisions unanimously.

Following a discussion the Committee members accepted the Proposal of the Decision on the election of court presidents, submitted by the High Judicial Council, by majority vote.

Tomic also presented the Proposal of the Decision on the election of judges to judicial office for the first time saying that the High Judicial Council had assessed the needs per court, called a competition and conducted the procedures for the nomination of candidates for election to judicial office.

By majority vote, the Committee members accepted the Proposal of the Decision on the election of judges to judicial office for the first time, submitted by the High Judicial Council.

The Committee members then proceeded to accept, by majority vote, the Proposal of the Decision on the termination of office of the President of the Misdemeanour Court in Loznica.

Bojan Stevic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, presented the Ministry Activity Information for the period July-September 2016, elaborating on the reports of individual sectors within the Ministry.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Petar Petrovic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Jovan Palalic, Dusan Pavlovic, Marko Parezanovic, Doc. Dr Mihailo Jokic, Aleksandra Majkic, Zarko Micin, Slavisa Bulatovic, Djordje Komlenski, Miletic Mihajlovic, Dr Aleksandar Martinovic, Balint Pasztor, Sreto Peric and Vladan Zagradjanin.
