Opening Two New EU Negotiation Chapters – Big and Important News

European Integration Committee Chairman Nenad Canak issued the following press statement on the opening of two new EU negotiation chapters:

“By opening two new EU negotiation chapters the Republic of Serbia continues on its European path. And that is big and important news.

With chapters 17 and 18, on economic and monetary policy and statistics, the Republic of Serbia has opened 16 of the 35 negotiation chapters, with two being temporarily closed.

The fact that we expected at least three and were technically ready to open as many as seven chapters should not in any way diminish the importance and significance of the progress made here.

Quite the opposite.

After the stabilization of political circumstances in the European Union the progress can only pick up speed. And it is important to be ready for that moment.”
