PFG with Armenia Meets with Armenian Ambassador to Serbia
The Head and members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Armenia met with the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Serbia based in Prague Ashot Hovakimyan.
The PFG Head Aleksandar Cotric expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and the continuation of successful cooperation through the work of the newly formed Parliamentary Friendship Group. He said that the Group has 19 members and that each of them approached it with special enthusiasm and a desire to improve cooperation.
Cotric emphasised that Serbia is satisfied with the political cooperation and even more satisfied with the economic cooperation between the two countries, adding that they should focus on common goals that will secure a better life for their respective citizens.
Ambassador Hovakimyan underlined the exceptional importance of the friendly relations between the two peoples and expressed his satisfaction with the future cooperation with the parliamentary friendship group. He stressed that there is ample room to intensify cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture, as well as in the field of economy and that it is important to use these potentials. In the course of the meeting the Ambassador informed his hosts about the current political situation in Armenia and the open issues that the country has with neighbouring Azerbaijan, while Cotric took the opportunity to once again thank the Republic of Armenia for its principled position of non-recognition of the so-called state of Kosovo.
The officials also agreed that there is ample room to improve cooperation in the fields of tourism, education, and economy, and that opportunities should be sought to increase the scope of trade cooperation.
The meeting was attended by PFG members Olivera Denic, Ivana Stamatovic, Dubravka Filipovski and Edin Djerlek, who expressed their satisfaction with future cooperation and their willingness to actively participate in its improvement.
