SIixth Sitting of the Committee on Interethnic Relations
The Committee on Interethnic Relations held its sixth sitting on 31 October.The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairperson, Ana Tomanova-Makanova.

The sitting was attended by the Assistant Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government, Bratislav Djokic who informed the Committee on the work of the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government Work group on the composition of the proposal of amendments and modifications of the provisions of the part of the Law on Local Self-Government pertaining to the protection of national minorities’ rights.
The Committee members exchanged opinions, suggestions and proposals on issues connected to the amendments and modifications of the Law, suggesting a particular consideration of the issues of the official use of language and script, means of financing, as well as the activities of local ombudsmen and interethnic councils.
The Committee decided to submit to the Work group the proposals, opinions and suggestions voiced at the Committee sitting pertaining to the protection of national minorities’ rights in the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Local Self-Government.
The Committee decided to have one of the upcoming Committee sittings held in Bujanovac within the next month, and in the meantime once again to request a report on the situation in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja from the Coordination Body for these municipalities.
