Thirty-Seventh Sitting of the Committee on Defense and Security
At the sitting held on 21 February, the Committee on Defense and Security considered the Proposal of the Decision on the Adoption of the Annual Plan for the use of the Serbian Armed Forces and other defense forces in multinational operations in 2011 and the Proposal of the Decision on the participation of Serbian Army personnel in multinational operations in 2011. The decision proposals were elaborated by Tanja Miscevic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defense, who stressed that the plan and decision had been drafted based on the capacities of the Ministry of Interior, Serbian Armed Forces and Ministry of Defense, funds and the UN’s current needs for the engagement of Serbian forces.
At the sitting held on 21 February, the Committee on Defense and Security considered the Proposal of the Decision on the Adoption of the Annual Plan for the use of the Serbian Armed Forces and other defense forces in multinational operations in 2011 and the Proposal of the Decision on the participation of Serbian Army personnel in multinational operations in 2011.
The decision proposals were elaborated by Tanja Miscevic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defense, who stressed that the plan and decision had been drafted based on the capacities of the Ministry of Interior, Serbian Armed Forces and Ministry of Defense, funds and the UN’s current needs for the engagement of Serbian forces.
Tanja Miscevic said that this was both Serbia’s obligation stemming from the international treaties it had signed and a confirmation of Serbia’s ability and willingness to take part in keeping world peace. She added that the participation of Serbian forces in the European Union’s multinational missions is a new development.
The Committee endorsed the decision proposals by a majority of votes.
The sitting was chaired by Dusan Bajatovic, Committee Chairman.
