Thirty-Sixth Sitting of the Gender Equality Committee
At the sitting held on 29 February, the Gender Equality Committee considered the Gender Equality Directorate Activity Report for the period January-December 2011.
The Director of the Gender Equality Directorate Dr Natalija Micunovic presented the Directorate’s work in the past year to the Committee members. The Committee members commended the Directorate’s work, particularly as regards education and raising public awareness on the importance of gender equality and agreed that the state needed to allocate higher funds in order to improve the situation in the sphere. The Committee adopted the Gender Equality Directorate Activity Report for the period January-December 2011.
In the continuation, the Committee members considered and adopted the Gender Equality Committee Activity Report for the period January-December 2011, as well as the Gender Equality Committee Activity Report the for period June 2008-December 2011. In the course of the debate, the Committee members agreed that in the previous year, and the current legislature, the Committee operated very successfully and greatly contributed to the promotion of gender equality in Serbia. They also stressed that it was one of the rare Committees which had not exhibited party differences, but rather made decisions by consensus in order to improve the situation in the sphere of gender equality.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Gordana Paunovic Milosavljevic.
