Members of the public who visited the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia on Saturday, 23 April 2005, had the opportunity to be the first to see a newly discovered painting at the Assembly building. The well-preserved painting, the work of Ivan Tisov, dating from the early1930s, was hidden from public view for decades behind the support wall for the ventilation system in the old section of the parliament building.

Secondary school students from Indjija and members of the public visiting the Assembly, as part of the traditional Open Door Day, toured the Press Room, where the newly discovered painting is located, as well as the most important areas of the parliament building, and watched a film on the work of the highest legislative body in Serbia. Many questions about the activities of deputies and the work of the Serbian Assembly were put to the secretary of the National Assembly, Marko Danilovic, and deputy Vojkan Tomic, who were in charge of welcoming the visitors on Saturday. Still, members of the public showed the greatest interest in the re-discovery of the historic painting.

Students from Prijepolje, who visited the National Assembly on Friday, 22 April 2005, as part of the programme to acquaint students from Serbian towns with the work of public authorities, witnessed the start of work on uncovering the painting. They, too, saw a film of the work of the parliament, toured the building, and spoke with the Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic, and the deputy for their constituency, Vukosav Tomasevic.
